I say, again, can you believe that the year is almost over? We’ve entered into the last month of a very eventful and memorable year. Many of us can look back over this year and reflect on the people we’ve lost, the opening of our eyes to the plight of this country and world through a very interesting election season and the realization that there is much work to be done in the Kingdom to win lost souls before the return of our Lord. But, the difference between us, as believers, and those who don’t believe is that God is our strength, our peace and our hope! No, we don’t know what the future holds, but we have comfort knowing WHO holds the future and no matter what may come we can trust that God is in control! And, as many have said before, it doesn’t matter who won the election, Jesus is STILL King! Hallelujah!
Yes, this year has definitely been a roller coaster ride in the life of our world, our nation, our state, our city and even in some of our families. Personally I can look back and think “Wow, I can’t believe we made it through that.” But, one thing I can testify as my motto is “If He did it before, He’ll do it again!” So often we get so caught up in what an issue or problem is that we forget to step back and remember that “this too shall pass”.
So, as we prepare to end this year and look forward to a new year, let us remember that every moment is a blessing. Let’s take the good with the bad and enjoy this thing called LIFE. The old quote is “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” Today, let’s remember that it’s all a part of the plan. I’m not one who sews quilts or crochets, but I do know that on the underside or backside it appears to be a jumbled mess. There are threads here and there. The pattern almost seems random. Honestly it looks like a complete mess and doesn’t appear to make sense until you turn it over and see the beautiful design. It’s just like that in our lives. I can even dare to say that it’s like that in our families, in this country and in this world. No, from our limited perspective we can’t understand why this has happened or that has taken place. But imagine if we could look through God’s eyes and see everything from His perspective then we might be able to see the Big Beautiful Picture that He is designing. Of course, we know that’s not possible. So, until then we continue to sing the lyrics to one of our favorite hymns, “Trials dark on every hand, and we cannot understand / all the ways of God would lead us / to that blessed promised land; but he guides us with his eye, and we'll follow till we die, for we'll understand it better by and by. By and by, when the morning comes, when the saints of God are gathered home, we'll tell the story how we've overcome, for we'll understand it better by and by.”
